MIND

We work on two aspects of Mind: Intellect and Emotion

Intellectual Quotient

This dimension rules our minds and allows us to reason, apply logic, appreciate precision, quality and performance. It also allows us to learn, accumulate knowledge, make rational decisions and bring order to our lives. Though this is an important dimension, unfortunately lot of people believe that this is the most important dimension and never focus on the other dimensions. Even from the childhood days we are all trained to focus more on the Intellectual Quotient. Most of the time IQ works on the past or future and less on present. Thinking about work, planning or thinking about the past and the future can overwhelm us. When this happens it’s hard to appreciate the present moment and we miss many opportunities to experience happiness through our other dimensions.

Emotional Quotient

Probably the most challenging of the dimensions, this governs our relationship with ourselves and others. A high EQ allows us to be self-assured, confident and understanding of others’ emotions. It also helps us establish and maintain fulfilling relationships. Too often we dwell on negative emotions and this causes us to block out all the good we can receive from the other dimensions.

Daniel Goleman’s analysis of 181 jobs in 121 organizations found that emotional competencies were the best differentiator between star performers and typical performers. While IQ accounts for only about 10% of the variance in job performance, the biggest difference is made by abilities such as being able to handle frustrations, identifying others’ emotions, controlling own emotions and getting along with other people .

MIND(Health Quotient)

We believe that every emotion is an action and hence by changing the action we can change the emotion. Tune in to how your body feels when you’re happy. This dimension helps us experience life through our senses, body and the energy around us. Our health, appearance and ability to enjoy play, exhilaration and pleasure reside here. When we nurture our physical being we are better able to deal with health issues, physique, stress and various stages of life like childhood days, career building, midlife and retired life. It’s also possible to build “happiness memory” just as you build muscle memory by being aware of how your body feels when you’re content and then making a conscious effort to recapture that feeling.

SPIRIT(Spiritual Quotient)

While most people think of spiritual as meaning religious, in dimensional terms it refers to our conceptual selves and our beliefs. It governs our belief systems and inspires creativity and passion. When our spiritual dimension is given its due, we see the world outside ourselves more clearly, open up to creative expression and access the positive characteristics of the other dimensions more easily. This is the measure of your connectivity to the universal intelligence. High SQ makes possibilities into realities in your life.

High Happiness Quotient is achieved by having good physical health which allows you to play and enjoy the sensory side of life, high emotional and intellectual quotient which engage and disengage your mind at the right times, and a high Spiritual Quotient which helps to connect with yourself, others and the infinite intelligence.

To create a happy nation, we need to make Happiness as a Culture. This is achieved by creation of Happiness through policies, programs and services of the Government and corporate sector and even at school levels.

A Happiness culture can be promoted through the seven habits of Happiness

  • The First Habit of Radiant Physical wellness
  • The Second Habit of Emotional well being
  • The Third Habit of Personal wellbeing
  • The Fourth Radiant Habit of Family bonding
  • The Fifth Habit of the Radiant work place
  • The Sixth habit of Social bonding

These can then be measured through various indexes developed for the purpose. Feedback provided can then be used to course correct the happiness initiative.

Execution
The Street will have a Happiness Committee with 5 members. In addition to the Chairman, there will be a member for each of the pillars mentioned above. They will initiate various programs to maintain harmony and happiness in the street 365 days of an year.

It is a very simple hypothesis: in order to have happy, satisfied and loyal customers, organizations should have happy, satisfied and loyal employees. Southwest Airlines’ Chairman Herb Kelleher has said that he puts employees first, “because if you have happy employees, that will lead to happy customers”.

Thought Process Re-engineering™

Happiness is a state of mind and hence it needs to become a character rather than an attitude. Normal trainings and motivational workshops work only at a person’s attitude level. HAPPINESS INDEX

Happiness Index is a measure of the level of happiness and positivity amongst the people in a community; be it in the workplace or in a school. We measure the Happiness quotient of the people based on various parameters connected with the 3D Happiness™ in the workplace and also in schools and other institutions.

We believe that the real growth of a company cannot be judged from the financial growth or gain in market share alone. Success of a school cannot be measured from the percentage of students getting distinction alone. The success and growth should be measures in terms of happiness and positivity and for that it is essential that we find out the happiness index of the organization and measure the growth in the index every year.

Dr. Rekha Shetty

A Happiness Expert, over the last 25 years has worked with many blue chip companies to install the positive field and create the culture of happiness. She has written 10 books on happiness and innovative approaches to happiness including ‘Happiness Quotient,’ ‘Innovate Happily,’ ‘Happy Street.’ The Happiness Principles have been tried and tested in schools, blue chips companies, in both manufacturing and services, housing developments, hospitals and many other organizations.

She is an author, an entrepreneur and an original thinker. A Ph.D from Madras University, on the subject of innovation. Dr. Rekha Shetty began her career with a brilliant academic record with two university ranks.
